So you probably don't know this about me (yet) but I am a caffeine-a-holic. It's my drug of choice - the sweet, sweet shudder as I have that first coffee of the morning confirms that I am, and likely will always be, an addict.
I mean, I would mainline it if I could.
So when my coffee maker bit the big one a few weeks ago, I was devestated. Getting my business off the ground means I don't have much money left over for little things like, oh, new coffee makers or daily Starbucks lattes. I pulled an old, tiny Mr. Coffee out from under the counter which kinda sorta works, and struggled along. But when I heard that some bloggers were being offered the opportunity to try out a Senseo coffee maker, free, I was really excited. I've always been interested in them, and I not only write for a lot of blogs, but I also belong to a lot of groups; computer clubs, gaming groups, etc. And in yet another example of the Universe (or God if that's what you prefer) stepping up to help me out when things went wrong, I was picked to receive a machine.
It came yesterday, and guess what? It doesn't suck!
Actually, it's much nicer than I thought. The design looks great in my kitchen (not that I'm terribly picky) and it's very easy to use. It is heavy on the plastic components, and the water reservoir is not quite as snug as I'd like (it doesn't leak though), but I kind of expected that in a sub-$100 coffee maker. And the coffee?
Ooooo. That's good coffee.
Kinda starbucks-esque. You can get refills at Target for under $4 for 1n 18 pack - lots cheaper than going out for lattes - and it makes me feel very pampered. (They even have flavored and caooucino varieties, which surprised me, although those are mostly available on the Senseo website.) So I can honestly say, if you're into coffee and in the market for a coffee maker, you really ought to check this out. I'm going to buy a few different flavors and put them in airtight canisters, then surprise my mom with a 'coffee tasting' when she visit next week. Talk about fancy!
Oops - coffee time. I'll talk at you later!
