Buster kitty returns for surgery

Well, I was afraid of this... early this morning I had to make a return trip to the veterinarian, as little Buster Bunny did not eat at all and seemed to be in more pain. He had emergency surgery and they found almost a foot of some ropelike material in his intestines - not sure what it was, could have been carpet fibers, insulation or almost anything. Worse, his intestine had perforated and needed to be repaired - he lost almost 8 inches of it. Theres no way to know if he will live through the next few days, as his chances are only fair. He has a great heart and strong spirit and at this point all I can do is pray and worry, and I am doing a lot of both. Sleep however, does not appear to be in my future - when I close my eyes all I see is his little face.

About five years ago my other cat Nyoka was gravely ill with kidney failure and the vet gave her six months to live. This has felt much like that time, the ups and downs, the frustration and the guilt. However, she did survive and is still with us (although I do have to give her subcutaneous fluids twice a weel to augment her kidneys.) I think Bunny has that same fighting spirit - at least I hope so - and I pray that he will return to us some time next week, healthy and on the mend.
