Cookie Day!

Well today I was SUPPOSED to go bake cookies with a friend, but her dad is in the hospital. However my mom came up, so the two of us sat in the kitchen and talked while I baked cookies and sampled. I made some of our famous 'vegetable soup' in the crockpot (which is really more of a stew) and we nibbled while I baked. It was really a good day!

For those who might be interested, here it is - the Elynn Vegetable Stew. One of the easiest, cheapest crock pot meals I know of!

Brown one pound of hamburger. Put it in the crockpot.
Add 2 cups FINELY Diced cabbage. I mean FINE - it will basically dissolve into the soup and provide flavor. You don't want anything squeaking between your teeth!
Add 3 or so cans of veg-all (it's a mixed vegetable can blend. I always have some on hand - it has carrots, corn, celery, potatoes and so forth.)
Add 2 or so cans of tomato sauce. Don't make it too 'wet'! This should be a thick stew.
Need to stretch the recipe? Add more veggies and sauce. Heat on low for 5 hours or til hot through. Serve with cornbread muffins and you've got a very filling meal!

Hope this gives you a little something to de-stress the holidays :)
