Unique marketing ideas

After all those years in retail management, marketing and branding is one of my hobbies. Well, every so often you hear about someone who has really different and effective ideas about generating 'buzz' for a new product or service. Take Mark Hughes - former VP of Marketing for Half.com, he actually got the town of Halfway, Oregon to rename itself to Half.com, Oregon. Wonder if I could get someone to rename a town after me? Elynn, Ohio has a nice ring to it...

Any-who, he's turned professional speaker now and he has a new book, "Buzzmarketing" which I'll be picking up. (Hey, a girl can always use new ideas to get exposure for her blog, y'know?) I enjoy picking the brain of people like this, to see what interesting twists they come up with.
