It's *so* my life

I remember the first time I saw Clerks, the movie. As it happens, the first preview I saw was when I was working at a video rental store. And the preview clip? It was of course Randall... working at the video store. And I said to myself, "Oh my god, that movie is my life!" I went from one counter-jockey job to another, trying to make a buck and forever whining about having to be there at all. Watching that movie hit me as being exactly what I was going through, and also gave me enough movie quotes to drive my friends crazy for about a year.

So tonight I FINALLY got to see Clerks 2 on video (my fella picked it up). And I have to ask - how does Kevin Smith do that? Because Clerks 2 is so my life now that I'm in my thirties. That moment where you look around and say, hey, I just don't care what other people think about me... I'm going to do what makes me happy, and live the life I want. And if that isn't what someone else would do - well tough. This is my life and my happiness here.

If you haven't seen the movie - do. Mind you there is some rough language and adult situations - this is NOT something to watch if the kids are, say, within a half mile of your house. Pack them off to grandma's, then grab a beer, kick back and enjoy. You're going to thank me later, and you're going to laugh yourself sick. Kevin Smith has his usual gift for dialog and screen writing. And lucky me, I have tickets to go see him at E.J.Thomas hall next month - I'm so excited I can hardly wait!

Oh - but if you're easily offended? Then don't watch, you're only going to leave nasty comments on my blog and totally harsh my mellow.
