... now the government is pursuing him for back taxes owed in excess of $200,000. I'm having a hard time believing that figure is right.
Part of me is just absolutely devastated by the news. Mr. Chapman evokes extreme reactions from everyone who knows him - you either love him, or you hate him. As for me, I like the guy. I always felt that he provided a positive role model - in that, you can screw up your life and still turn it around no matter how far you have fallen. He seemed to be living proof of that, as he had everything I ever wanted; a loving family, adorable children, a beautiful home and meaningful work improving the community. He was the ultimate example of redemption.
But in the last year it seems as if God has decided to put this man through a test of Job... his daughter died on the day of his wedding, Mexico has decided to extradite him for bringing a known sexual predator and fugitive back to justice when they refused to extradite him (apparently a criminal's money was good enough for them, but Mr. Chapman's isn't? Interesting the standards they have there) and now this. It is a hard blow to think that someone I looked up to might not be all I thought he was. I hope that this is a misunderstanding, a mistake, because if it isn't it will indeed be a test of faith, and for more than just the Chapman family. It will be a test of faith for everyone who believed in him.

Dog Chapman must be free. If Mexican police don’t catch fugitives, every country (not USA only) has right to go to take them.
But …
How many convicted disappear and become fugitives after a too easy bail?
