I wish I could paint...

Today is "All about me day!" I'm getting my own office here in the house so I can get a bit more done, blogging-wise and consulting-wise. Up til now I worked down in the family room which has NOT been conducive to concentration. Lots of interruptions do NOT help me get the code finished, so this is a real exciting time for me! My new office has been a guest room, and most recently an exercise room for the weight bench that my fella never uses.. so I'm moving that out to the dining room (that I nver use, lol) and claiming it as my own.

I think what excites me most is the opportunity to have a space that's all mine and that can reflect my personality. I'm hoping to do more than just put a plain old desk in there - I like to have some beauty around me, if I can, to inspire me when I work. For example, check out these gorgeous Oil Paintings by Lori Twiggs. I sat here and drooled over them for at least an hour, and I can't really decide which one I like best - they'd all look so good in my office!

OK, I'm lying. I know which one I like best. "The Evergreens" reminds me of summers when we used to visit my Aunt Harriet in Pennsylvania - the rolling forests on the low mountains, that kind of misty, humid summery feeling - I can't really explain why that's such a relaxing, pleasant memory for me, but this painting captures it perfectly. I can feel the wood decking under my toes as I lean out just a bit and look over what at the time seemed like endless wilderness (I even saw a bear there once through her picture window!) and endless summer possibilities. This painting really brings back those feelings, so it's the sort of thing that would be perfect in my office. Actually, I think all of them would look great! Here's to summer dreaming :)
