Maybe I should have bought my own domain

You know, I am really happy with this site, but sometimes I think I should have bought my own domain. Well, technically, you don't BUY domains, you lease them, but you get the idea. It can be really exciting to think up a new concept for a web site and then brand it starting with a unique domain name, and then working your way up to a logo and full site layout.

There's a certain freedom you get when you host your own web site rather than using a free hosted service (even a really good one like Blogger). You can do more than just the basics - stretch out, build custom PHP applications to drive some of your sidebar widgets, that sort of thing. It gives you more access to the nuts and bolts of your site, so you can really personalize it and make it your own.

In the end, though, I suppose that I made the right choice hosting this blog at Blogger. It's not that I don't have great domain name ideas, but that this is supposed to be relaxing for me - a place where I can let my hair down. A place where I don't have to worry about my server performance, or the bandwidth - where I can just pull up a chair and chat a while. And so far that's exactly what I love about Elynn's Random Life :)

Who knows though - maybe someday I'll pick up a new domain and then do a site redirect. Maybe if my Alexa gets high enough :)
